A Love Meant to Be: Carol & James’ Story
February 11, 2025
Love has a funny way of bringing people together, and for Carol Burchette and James McGuire, their journey began through a circle of friends in Barnesville. Both having been married before, their paths had already crossed many times, but fate had something special in store for them. After a year of dating, they exchanged vows at Bethesda Methodist Church, where they were both members, and this May, they will celebrate 17 wonderful years of marriage.

Together, they have built a beautiful, blended family with six children from their previous marriages. But beyond family, their bond has always been strengthened by the little joys they share—like their love for dining out together. Tlaquepaque Mexican Restaurant is their go-to spot, where countless memories have been made over delicious meals.
Their love for adventure has also taken them across the seas, with Jamaica being their favorite cruise destination. But no matter where they go, one thing remains constant—James’ unwavering devotion to Carol. He never lets a special occasion pass without surprising her with roses, a tradition that has continued even at Emerald Pointe. Carol still wonders how he pulled off their anniversary flowers in January, but that’s just James—always finding a way to make her smile.
Carol lovingly says, “James wouldn’t be at Emerald if it wasn’t for me—he could live at home, but he wants to be here with me.” And that, in itself, speaks volumes about their love. For James, his favorite thing about Carol is her personality, while Carol adores everything about James, laughing as she says, "The only thing he can't do is walk on water!"
Their love story is one of devotion, laughter, and companionship, proving that true love doesn’t just happen once—it finds its way back to those meant to be together. Every day at Emerald Pointe, their love is a reminder that some bonds only grow stronger with time.
